At MOD Lyneham, a recently redeveloped former RAF base, young children of serving soldiers can now enjoy outdoor education activities thanks to a grant to Learning with Nature from ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

Learning with Nature is a not-for-profit organisation based in Wiltshire that creates opportunities for learning through outdoor engagement. The Soldiers’ Charity donated £3,000 towards the cost of the delivery of outdoor learning sessions in the garden.  Young children will learn to grow and cook their own food, as well as learn about wildlife in the garden and how to care for plants.

Chrissie Neville, Head of Outdoor Learning at Learning with Nature comments: “Thanks to the grant, the children will be able to socialise in a stimulating outdoor environment where they will enjoy the health benefits of being outdoors and being physically active.  The garden is a contained area designed to promote outdoor play and learning and parents will be able to keep an eye on their children whilst building friendships with other people, both civilian and military.”
