We are delighted to award a £70,000 grant to Royal Star & Garter towards its care for former soldiers.

Caring for former soldiers living with disability or dementia is a priority area for the Army Benevolent Fund. Royal Star & Garter provides specialist residential care for over 250 residents a year in its homes in Solihull, Surbiton and High Wycombe. Residents have an average age of 90 and many have serious conditions, such as dementia, requiring individually tailored specialist care.

Our grant will partly fund the charity’s Wellbeing Programme, delivered by wellbeing coordinators and in-house physiotherapists, tailored to the needs of individual residents. The programme provides a variety of activities and exercise seven days a week, including outings designed to promote mobility, enhance mental wellbeing, and teach new skills and hobbies like music, arts and cooking.
