We congratulate WO2 Paul Darling, Royal Artillery, on being awarded the Montgomery Bowl for his dedicated fundraising and support to our charity.

WO2 Darling has been an avid and loyal supporter of the Army Benevolent Fund over very many years. Since 2015, he has raised around £65,000 for our charity through collections he organised at the F1 British Grand Prix Silverstone. This is an incredibly impressive achievement and he managed it during his service as a soldier in the Regular Army.

Paul is currently serving in Kuwait, so our charity was not able to personally present him with his trophy, but we were delighted that Brigadier Gavin Thompson, Commander British Military Mission Kuwait, conveyed the good news to Paul and presented him with our certificate.

We look forward to presenting Paul formally with his award when he next visits the UK.

The Montgomery Bowl is our highest accolade and is named after Field Marshall Bernard Law Montgomery of Alamein, who played a central role in our charity’s establishment in 1944.
