We are delighted to award a £10,000 grant to Hounds for Heroes towards its assistance dogs partnerships with vulnerable former soldiers.
The Army Benevolent Fund promotes the mental health and wellbeing of the Army family as a priority. We support various charities who work with animals to foster companionship with disabled and vulnerable ex-Armed Forces personnel and help them rehabilitate and recover from injury and trauma.
Our grant will fund the running costs of the Hounds for Heroes’ Ability not Disability project that fosters close partnerships between specially trained assistance dogs and their beneficiaries; the dogs are a lifeline for former soldiers coping with conflict, disability and bereavement.
Nobby, a beneficiary who served in the Army for over 11 years and was partnered with his dog Captain in 2021, said: “Captain’s help isn’t just physical assistance; he also provides emotional support.”
