ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is pleased to have awarded the NSPCC a £20,000 grant to support military families in Tidworth.
The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) is the leading children’s charity in the UK, fighting to end child abuse and neglect in every community. It helps children who have been abused to rebuild their lives, protects those at risk, and finds new ways of preventing abuse and neglect from happening in the first instance.
The NSPCC has a network of Service Centres which work directly with families going through difficult times. It also operates a free 24-hour helpline, Childline, which gives children and young people a safe and confidential space to talk about their concerns, be listened to, and ask for advice and support.
Our grant will support the NSPCC Tidworth Service Centre deliver a varied portfolio of evidence-based support services which will help form stronger family bonds and child development in parents and children who are part of a military family.
This programme includes a series of drop-in sessions such as “Time Together” which is a weekly support session for pre-school aged children with informal support, activities and games to promote positive parenting styles, “Emotional Resilience in Children” (ERIC) where group work programmes help children develop, practice and learn how to manage their emotions and behaviours, and “Positive Pathways” which offers a one-to-one service for children and young people experiencing emotional difficulties using solution-focused techniques to achieve a positive goal.
Service Centre manager for the NSPCC’s Tidworth Service Centre, Jane Walker, said: “We are delighted to be awarded this generous grant from ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, which will help us support children and their families in Tidworth and the surrounding area, some of who will be going through the most difficult times of their lives. Our work relies 90% on donations and grants, without which our work to help keep children safe simply wouldn’t be possible. This grant will enable us to continue our important work within the Tidworth community.”
