The ninth annual Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch is to take place on Thursday 7th April 2016. His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales will be the Guest of Honour. The Lunch has raised nearly £1.4 million for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity since its inception and attracts some of the top names from the City’s business and professional communities, the Livery’ Companies and politicians.

The 2016 Lunch is hosted by the Rt Hon The Lord Mayor, Alderman the Lord Mountevans, who will be accompanied by Alderman and Sheriff Charles Bowman and Sheriff Dr Christine Ridgen.

The Lord Mayor Alderman the Lord Mountevans comments: ”The City of London has always supported and advocated for of the UK Armed Forces and salutes the commitment, bravery and sacrifice of our armed services personnel.  We are therefore honoured to host the Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch, in aid of the national charity of the British Army, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, so that we can give something back to those who have given so much of themselves.”

More than one hundred years after the First World War, there continues to be serving soldiers and veterans – both Regulars and Reservists, and their families, who find themselves facing real difficulties. The Lord Mayor and the Committee are asking everyone to enjoy a splendid lunch while supporting those who have done their duty.

General Sir Mike Jackson GCB CBE DSO DL President, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, said:  “The Soldiers’ Charity is here to provide support to individual soldiers, veterans and their immediate families when in need. Whilst a significant number of those needing our help are veterans from recent conflicts, we provide a lifetime of support for all. We are delighted that His Royal Highness Prince Harry – who has himself served in the British Army – can join us on this occasion. His support means a great deal to the Charity and to those it supports. It is thanks to events such as this Curry Lunch that many soldiers and veterans who need the Charity’s help can receive it.”

Chefs will be serving more than 1,000 people with a range of delicious curries prepared by Noon Foods at the historic Guildhall in the City of London.  Wines will be provided by Private Cellar and the beer by Cobra Beer.

Group ticket packages and corporate packages are available, which will include champagne and a private meeting area for companies wishing to bring 20 people or more.

Guests at the Lunch will be able to participate in a Draw and Silent Auction hosted by Givergy, with “money-can’t-buy” prizes and unique experiences such as the opportunity to open Tower Bridge, Partridge Shooting for  8 guns at a private estate, dinner at Michelin Starred restaurants and tickets to the Sovereign’s Parade at Sandhurst as well as other prizes such as a five night stay at a glamorous resort in Morocco or Debenture tickets to the second day of Wimbledon 2016.  Bidding has started, and people can see the prizes and start bidding at https://givergy.com/charity/abf-the-soldiers-charity.

There will also be the opportunity to win a pearl and diamond necklace, generously donated by Susannah Lovis Jewellers, at the Lunch’s Diamond’s and Champagne Draw or a pair of his and hers watches by Harold Pinchbeck at the Watches & Cocktail Bar.
