We are delighted to award a £5,000 grant to the hospice care charity Phyllis Tuckwell, towards its care services for patients who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer.

Our charity has long supported Phyllis Tuckwell’s end-of-life care for adult patients and families in West Surrey and North-East Hampshire. Every day it provides medical and nursing care and therapies to patients, relatives and carers in their own homes, at its hospice at Farnham and the Beacon Centre in Guildford.

Between April 2021 and March 2022, 435 patients were referred to the charity’s Hospice Care at Home team, 32 of whom were Army veterans. Our grant will help to fund the team’s travel and equipment costs.

Peter Foxton, Director of Income Generation at Phyllis Tuckwell, said:

We would like to thank ABF The Soldiers’ Charity for this generous grant and for its much-valued continued support of our work. This money will go directly towards helping to fund our Hospice Care at Home service, which supports patients where they want to be – in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes.”

Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief Operating Officer ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, added:

Our charity provides support to soldiers and their families for life. A cornerstone of our activity is ensuring that veterans and families have the care they need long after their service has ended. We are always proud to donate funds to Phyllis Tuckwell to ensure that all those living with advanced or terminal illnesses get the very best compassionate care they need.
