The Welsh Big Curry and VIP Experience 2026

The Welsh Big Curry 2026 promises to be an event unlike anything we’ve done before. For the first time, the event will be hosted inside Maindy Barracks in Cardiff, and active military base, offering guests a rare opportunity to step behind the wire and experience the Army from the inside – all in support of the Army Benevolent Fund.

Not only this, but guests can choose to add on the exclusive VIP military experience, where you’ll enjoy access to an exclusive range of hands-on military experiences.

A Brand-New Experience for Wales

Set within one of Cardiff’s most historic military locations, guests will be welcomed with a drinks reception before enjoying a silver-service buffet curry lunch (Two courses), delivered in true military style.

The format is intentionally different: two long banquet tables designed to encourage conversation, connection and camaraderie. Whether you arrive as an individual or part of a group, this is an event built for meeting people.

Throughout the afternoon, guests will enjoy a lively programme including a Master of Ceremonies, guest speakers, and a Core of Drums performance, creating an atmosphere that is distinctly military, distinctly Welsh, and genuinely memorable.

VIP: A Once-in-a-Lifetime Military Experience

For the first time, the Welsh Big Curry introduces a VIP experience, turning the afternoon into something truly exceptional.

As a VIP guest, you’ll not only get your curry lunch, you’ll also have access to a range of exclusive military experiences, including:

A realistic military room-clearing training simulation, kitted in body armour and night-vision goggles, using BB-firing training weapons against designated targets.
Handling real military weapons under supervision
Exploring a fleet of military vehicles
Photo opportunities with the regimental goat mascot
Priority access to all activities throughout the afternoon

These are immersive experiences rarely available to the public, all delivered safely and professionally by serving personnel.

This is a strictly limited event, with just 80 places available.

Due to demand already shown, standard ticket holders may be able to purchase individual experiences on the day, subject to availability.

Standard Ticket: includes welcome drink, silver-service buffet curry lunch, dessert, beer, speakers, entertainment, auction and raffle (£60pp)

VIP Activity Ticket: includes all of the above and the three Military Activities (£120pp)

VIP Group Activity Ticket (perfect for Corporates): includes all of the above for 10 people (£1000)

Fundraising

As with all Big Curry events, fundraising remains at the heart of the afternoon. Guests can take part in a charity raffle, auction prizes, and a “buy a glass to win a bottle” champagne draw.

Dress

The dress code for the event is Business Smart Casual. High heels are prohibited on the Military Vehicles and the Room Clearing Training Simulation.
