Speaker: Kate Thaxton, the Curator of The Royal Norfolk Regimental Museum
There is a fantastic story to tell and Kate is in the process of planning an exhibition which will open in early summer 2027 entitled ‘The 9th Foot, John Money, Trowse and America’.
This project was inspired by an exciting discovery of an 18th Century portrait in the Royal Norfolk Regimental Museum collection: It revealed a story of extraordinary characters, daring do and
subterfuge; local and transatlantic connections, the defence of Norfolk and even early ballooning.
The exhibition will provide an opportunity to discover more about Norfolk at an important time in the history of the Regiment.
Date and Time: Wednesday 14th October 2026. Gathering from 12pm with lunch at 12.30pm
Location: The Norfolk Club, 17 Upper King St, Norwich, Norfolk, NR3 1RB
Dress Code: Jacket and tie.
The talk will provide an opportunity to discover more about Norfolk at an important time in the history of the Regiment.

- Tickets: £32.50, with lunch and coffee included.
- A Charity Donation Box will be available on the day (cash). The suggested donation is £5.

All events can be booked through the Club Newsletter or by email to: [email protected] or by phone: 01603 626767. When booking, let us know about any allergies or dietary requirements, and complete payment by Monday 12 October 2026.
We’ll charge Members’ Advanced Payment Scheme (APS) accounts 3 days before the event. If you do not have an APS account, we’ll need to take payment in advance to confirm your booking.
Cancellation policy: Cancel up to 48 hours before the event for a full refund. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for cancellations made within 48 hours of the event.
