“We’re going for a hat trek”

This July, the Chairwoman and Secretary of the Army Benevolent Fund Middlesex Committee are embarking on their third personal challenge in three consecutive years, to walk 80 kms over 8 days, starting on 3 July 2026, to raise funds for the Army Benevolent Fund.

This year they are widening their field of walks but still within the boundaries of the old County of Middlesex.

From 3rd July to 6th July 2026 and from 10th July to 13th July 2026 they will be walking along the rivers that broadly boarder the old County of Middlesex – The Frays, The Thames and the Lea Valley with some other waterways, and include points of interest that have played a significant part in the history of the county.

Donate to their walk today via their fundraising page here.

All monies raised with help provide vital support to soldiers, veterans, and their families in times of need, ensuring they are never left behind. Every step they take is a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of those who serve our country. The need for ongoing support is greater than ever, as many face physical, emotional, and financial hardships long after their service ends. By raising £1,000 or more, they hope to contribute towards providing essential care and assistance that transforms lives. Join them in making a difference. Your generous donation will help sustain the Army Benevolent Fund’s mission: For Soldiers. For Life. Together, we can stand with those who have given so much for us all.

We hope you can join them in walking for a part or all of their walk to show your support and cheer them on.
