The Army Benevolent Fund was proud to participate in the inaugural Army Individual Training Command (AITC) awards night this month. Held at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst on 25 March, this new event celebrated and recognised the talent and dedication that underpins excellence in Army training.

The ABF was delighted to sponsor the first AITC Army Ambassador Award, which recognises an individual’s special contribution to supporting the Army and inspiring its soldiers and officers, alongside their day-to-day role. The deserving recipient was ABF supporter and Honorary Colonel of The Army Foundation College in Harrogate, Bear Grylls OBE.

Joining Major-General Nicholas Cowley, OBE, the Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, in presenting this lifetime achievement Award was Will Tower, the ABF’s Southeast Regional Director.

Thanking both the AITC and the ABF, Bear Grylls said: “It’s a real honour to receive the Award. The Army and the ABF are two organisations in my life that I really care about and am super proud to support.

“I’m grateful to the AITC, and the Army Benevolent Fund for today’s event, The ABF supports many serving soldiers, veterans and families throughout the year. The charity does a great job helping individuals and communities and is such an inspiration to me.”
