ABF The Soldiers’ Charity has given a grant to Music in Hospitals, a charity that provides music therapy, which will go towards live music concerts for ex-service men and women in care homes. The grant will reach around 1,850 ex-service men and women, as well as their carers and visitors.

A representative from Mais House, one of the homes where Music in Hospitals performs, said: “Music reaches out to everyone and evokes memories personal to the individual – it’s brilliant to see residents singing words to songs when you know they struggle with every day communication.”

“Live music in care homes has been shown to lift spirits and lower levels of stress, anxiety and depression, as well as providing the opportunity for socialising in what can often be a very isolated environment.”
