We are delighted to be supporting On Course Foundation by awarding a grant of over £7,000 to help veterans find work in the golf industry.

On Course Foundation’s mission is to build confidence and self-belief in its members, many of whom are Armed Forces veterans or sick service personnel, through sharpening golf skills, putting on golf events and enabling people to start a path of meaningful employment within the golf industry. The Foundation often find that its members may be lacking in confidence and so use golf as a way to improve both physical and mental strength whilst providing a space of competition and camaraderie.

Alistair McKay-Forbes, Managing Director at On Course Foundation, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this grant from The Soldiers’ Charity. By introducing our beneficiaries to the game of golf we see this as the ‘hook’, with the end objective of finding meaningful employment in the golf industry. In our nine years of operation we have seen that characteristics gained in the military can easily be transferred to a career in golf. This grant will allow our beneficiaries the chance to attend insight days and work experience placements, as well as gaining golf industry specific qualifications, giving them the best opportunity to secure a role in the industry. Thank you again for your generous support.’’

Our grant will help fund On Course Foundation’s project which will provide employment advice, case management, insight days, work experience and industry-based qualifications for six veterans. This 12-18 month structured initiative will give these veterans the toolkit they need to find dependable and sustainable employment in the golf industry.

Brigadier (Ret’d) Robin Bacon, Chief of Staff at ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, said: “Sport and golf offers such a wonderful platform for so many veterans to enjoy good competition and equally great company. On behalf of The Soldiers’ Charity, thank you very much indeed to On Course Foundation for its incredible work.”
