We are pleased to award a £50,000 grant to The Warrior Programme to help veterans and their families improve their physical resilience and mental wellbeing.
The funds will enable approximately 150 Army veterans and adult family members to complete the charity’s full Veterans and Families Programme, which is an increase from 100 Army veterans last year.
The Warrior Programme supports veterans suffering from a wide variety of mental health issues, ranging from anxiety, loneliness and loss of identity to PTSD and suicidal depression. Their 12-month course offers online foundation training and one-to-one personal sessions designed to help veterans to develop their personal resilience and self-respect, improve their social skills, and stay motivated.
Charlotte Cole, Chief Executive, The Warrior Programme, said:
“We are extremely grateful for the ABF’s continued support of the Warrior Programme over the last 14 years. During this period your funding has directly supported our work with almost 400 veterans and family members, enabling individuals to transform their lives and futures. We look forward to continuing our partnership as we develop our services and support to meet the needs of the veteran community for the future.”
Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief Operating Officer, Army Benevolent Fund, added:
“At times, veterans and their families have to cope with a range of challenges to their mental health and wellbeing. The Warrior Programme courses provide intensive tailored support and are designed to help Armed Forces families that are met with difficulties in their everyday life. We are very pleased to make this donation to the charity’s work.”
