We are delighted to award a £250,000 to Combat Stress which will go towards the continued delivery of life-changing treatment and support for former soldiers with complex mental health issues.

As a charity, we actively support Army veterans who are battling mental ill-health as one of our key areas of support. Society continues to change on a dramatic and continuous basis, and we want to make sure our Army family is still getting the help it deserves and needs.

For more than 100 years, Combat Stress has been the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health. To help veterans rebuild their lives, Combat Stress provides a range of free services including psychiatric and psychological treatment, substance misuse management, art therapy, occupational therapy, peer support, family support, online self-help materials and a 24-hour Helpline (0800 138 1619).

Robert Marsh, Director of Fundraising at Combat Stress, said: “We are extremely grateful to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity for its generous support and commitment to Army veterans with complex mental health problems.

“This grant will enable us to deliver our specialist services to former servicemen and women across the UK, helping them to tackle the past and take on the future.”

Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief of Staff at ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, adds: “Here at The Soldiers’ Charity, we have always been humbled by the way Combat Stress consistently responds to the evolving needs of veterans living with complex mental health conditions. We are proud to award this grant and make getting the right help and advice more available to the Army family whenever they may need it.”
