We are delighted to award a £150,000 grant to Haig Housing, towards its refurbishment programme for veterans’ homes.

The Army Benevolent Fund is committed to ensuring that soldiers, former soldiers, and their immediate families can live in safe and suitable homes. We fund several housing providers that offer accommodation to former soldiers and their families; and we are a longstanding funder of Haig Housing.

Haig Housing provides accommodation for veterans in 1,500 properties across 50 locations across the UK and Jersey, including Morden, South London where its site provides 340 homes.

Over the next financial year, our grant will partly fund Haig Housing’s programme to replace and modernise 80 kitchens and bathrooms, including improving ventilation, plumbing and electrical power supply, making them more energy efficient and comfortable.

Haig Homes, CEO, Tim Stockings comments:

“As the ABF celebrates its 80th anniversary and Haig approaches its 100-year milestone, we are proud to continue working together to serve our Army veterans. Thank you to the ABF for providing this grant, which helps us improve the lives of our beneficiaries.”

Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief Operating Officer, Army Benevolent Fund, added:

“We are proud to support Haig Housing, which does so much to provide affordable, high-quality housing to members of the Army family. The charity’s continued drive to improve and modernise veterans’ accommodation will have a positive impact on the lives of those who have served, and their families.”
