Norfolk Speaker’s Lunch with 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards (QDG)

Wednesday 22nd October 2025

Norfolk Speaker's Lunch

With a long and distinguished history stretching back more than 300 years, 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards (QDG) is a Cavalry Regiment specialising in mounted reconnaissance. Based at Swanton Morley these light cavalry crewmen are skilled in a wide range of weaponry and equally as capable on foot as they are at the wheel of a Jackal 2 or Coyote high mobility vehicle.

We are very fortunate that the current Commanding Officer, Lt Col David Landon, has agreed to take time from a busy ongoing pre -deployment exercise to come and speak to Club members and guests. His address will include what the QDG is, its current role, how this fits into wider military deployments, lessons being learnt from present ongoing conflicts and how these might impact upon future operations. This is a rare opportunity to hear firsthand from an in post serving Operational Commander.
