Our charity is very grateful to receive a donation of £55,000 from Clogau Gold, the Welsh-based jewellers creating timeless pieces containing rare Welsh gold. The funds were donated following sales of limited edition Remembrance Day poppy pin badges.
Previously, Clogau Gold has supported us through sponsorship and donation of items for golf days held in aid of ABF. Our partnership will ensure that soldiers, former soldiers, and their families have access to help when they need it, including in the Welsh regions.
The cheque was presented last week at our annual Army Carol Service by Ben Roberts, Managing Director of Clogau Gold, to Major General Tim Hyams CB OBE, Chief Executive of the ABF.
Major General Tim Hyams said: “We are delighted that Clogau Gold has chosen to support the Army Benevolent Fund and the Army family, in Wales and beyond. This hugely generous donation will enable us to provide essential support for soldiers, former soldiers, and their families, affording them the opportunity to avoid hardship and live with independence and dignity.”
Ben Roberts, Managing Director of Clogau Gold, said: “We were delighted with the amazing amount of money raised for the Army Benevolent Fund thanks to the generosity of Clogau’s customers. Last year we sold out of the poppy pin badges, so this year we made a lot more available and sold an incredible 5,500. As a result, we were proud to donate a grand total of £55,000 to support the great work the ABF carries out for active and retired members of the Army.”
