The Lady Mayor of London has, on 12th February 2026, unveiled the Veterans’ Garden in Guildhall Yard to support the Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch, which takes place on Thursday 16th April. The garden launch was hosted by the Rt. Hon The Lady Mayor, Alderwoman Dame Susan Langley and the Lady Mayor’s Consort.

Since its inception in 2008, the Lunch has raised over £4.2 million to support veterans of His Majesty’s Armed Forces.

This year’s garden, the Garden of the Senses, draws focus to veterans in the UK currently living with severe sight loss. Sight loss is often linked to mental health conditions such as depression, and this year’s garden aims to represent the power of nature to help improve mental wellbeing.

The garden incorporates the Japanese technique known as “Kintsugi”, the art of mending broken pottery with gold lacquer, to represent growth and repair, while the fragrant and tactile plants encourage touch and smell.

We are very grateful to the Gardeners’ Livery Company, Gianna Utilini, Paul Rochford of Joseph Rochford Gardens Ltd, Matt O’Conner of John O’Conner Grounds Maintenance, Noel Brock of Frognal Gardens Ltd, and Caroline Trzcinska, for making this garden possible.

The Veterans’ Garden will be available to view in Guildhall Yard until 15:00 on 16th April 2026.
