We are delighted to award a £30,000 grant to Families’ Activity Breaks (FAB) towards its fun activity camps for bereaved Army families.

FAB is a tri-service charity that runs fun activity camps around the UK for bereaved military families so they can meet socially with other families who have also experienced the loss of loved ones. The week-long residential camps are designed to be inclusive, incorporating a wide range of outdoors activities such as mountain biking, climbing and canoeing.

Our grant will help fund the operating and marketing costs of FAB’s camps taking place this summer in East Barnby (North Yorkshire) and Arthog (North Wales).

Major Karen Tait, FAB CEO said:

“FAB and our bereaved families are extremely grateful for the very generous grant from the Army Benevolent Fund and their supporters. This kind donation has gone directly towards providing a much needed FAB Camp, for our families to remember their fallen loved ones. We look forward to continuing to develop our relationship over the coming years with the Army Benevolent Fund.”

Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief Operating Officer, Army Benevolent Fund, added:

“Bereavement can be such a difficult experience for service families, especially children who have lost a parent. This year we were pleased to support FAB’s amazing work providing welcome respite breaks for bereaved Army families.”
