This June, a team of six amazing people from the British Army Recruiting Group will swim the English Channel to raise vital funds for the Army Benevolent Fund.
The swim will take place 14-28 June. This window represents the period within the two-week tide cycle when the tides are at their smallest, thereby giving the most favourable channel swim conditions. But the weather will also play a crucial part.
Each of the six swimmers will swim for an hour in the sea, before handing over to the next swimmer. After all six swimmers have swum for an hour, the rotation begins again until the team reaches France. If any swimmer has to pull out for any reason – cold, sea sickness, exhaustion – before the team reaches France then the entire team fails, and the swim is abandoned.
Apparently, more people have climbed Mount Everest than have swum the English Channel, so we wish them every success!
