We are delighted to award a £10,000 grant to Improving Lives Plymouth (ILP) towards its Veterans and Family hub.
Helping former soldiers and their families transition to civilian life is a priority area for our charity. ILP promotes the health and wellbeing of around 800 ex-military beneficiaries and families in the Plymouth area. The charity provides a wide range of assistance, including social networks, access to mental health services, practical advice and counselling about housing and welfare.
Our grant will partly fund ILP’s support to local Army families through the Plymouth hub, a drop-in centre staffed by ex-military volunteers.
Rob Smith, Chief Executive Officer, Improving Lives Plymouth, said:
“The Army Benevolent Fund grant to the ILP Veterans and Families Hub is a key contribution towards the sustainability of our project, which is peer-led by veterans and families themselves. There are over 20,000 veterans and families residing in Plymouth with another 7,500 serving personnel and families currently based in the city. This means over 10% of the local population is part of the Armed Forces community. ILP is proud to support them and proud to be supported by the Army Benevolent Fund.”
