We are delighted to award a £30,000 grant to the Scottish charity Fares4Free towards its hospital transportation services for military veterans.
ABF The Soldiers’ Charity funds various partner charities that deliver practical care and support to veterans. Fares4Free uses fully trained outreach support drivers and volunteers to facilitate transportation throughout Scotland for veterans and their families to hospital, medical or therapeutic appointments that they would otherwise be unable to attend.
Fares4Free’s ‘More Than A Journey’ project covers all of Scotland, including the Highland regions and other remote rural areas, where return hospital journeys can often take several hours. Veterans needing help with transport often have complex mental health conditions such as PTSD, which require extra support. Our grant will help the charity facilitate transport for around 35 veterans and their family members every month.
