Our charity is committed to ensuring that veterans and their families can live in safe and comfortable homes. So we are pleased to award £26,000 to Scottish Veterans Residences to fund essential improvements to the lift systems in the charity’s Whiteford House in Edinburgh, in order to ease accessibility for veterans with health issues such as muscular-skeletal, cardiac and respiratory problems.

Whiteford House is home to around 90 residents, three quarters of whom are Army veterans.

Brigadier (Ret’d) Martin Nadin OBE, Chief Executive, Scottish Veterans Residences, said:

This funding from ABF The Soldiers’ Charity means that we can continue to provide the best possible support to ex-Service men and women who would otherwise be homeless or desperately struggling. The generosity of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, and all who support it, is making a significant practical difference to the lives of veterans in real need.

Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief of Staff at ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, added:

Scottish Veterans Residences has been housing veterans in need for over 100 years and we are proud to work with them. We are always ready to do what we can to help partner charities provide comfortable and accessible homes for veterans with special health and mobility needs.”
