We are pleased to award a £38,000 grant to the National Gulf Veterans & Families Association to fund its welfare and advocacy work.

The National Gulf Veterans & Families Association (NGVFA) supports serving soldiers and veterans who served in the recent desert conflicts in the Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan and their dependants and carers.

The charity’s welfare and advocacy service provides veterans with both face-to-face and telephone advice about living with PTSD and mental illness, obtaining benefits, war pensions, health and housing.

Maria Rusling, General Manager at NGVFA, said:

Since the Covid pandemic started, the charity has continued to be a lifeline for the veterans and their families. Knowing that someone is on the end of a telephone gives them the comfort of knowing that support is there for them whenever they need it and for whatever issues they are facing. This would not be possible without grants from ABF The Soldiers’ Charity who have supported us for many years and we are truly grateful for their generous and continued support.

Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief of Staff at ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, added:

The NGVFA has been at the forefront of understanding the challenges that can affect those involved in desert conflicts; and our charity is proud to support its work helping these veterans and their families.
