We are delighted to award a £30,000 grant to the Spinal Injuries Association, to provide support for veterans who have sustained spinal cord injuries.

The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) aims to equip the 50,000 people in the UK living with a spinal cord injury with the confidence, knowledge and skills they need to play an active part in society. This grant will go towards the SIA’s support network which provides a wide variety of expertise and lifetime support to spinal cord injured veterans, their families and healthcare professionals caring for them.

Dan Burden, Head of Services Spinal Injuries Association, said:

We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, especially over the past 18 months as our services adapted in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The donation has allowed SIA to continue supporting spinal cord injured veterans on their journey to a fulfilled life. We have been incredibly lucky to be supported by ABF The Soldiers’ Charity for over 15 years and this year more than ever, we want to say thank you for their ongoing and generous support of our work.

Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief of Staff at ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, added:

The team at SIA do amazing work and we are always proud to support them. Sustaining a spinal cord injury can have such a devastating physical and social impact on a person’s quality of life. So it is crucially important that spinal cord injured veterans, who have given so much to their country, receive the very best advice and support.
