Army veteran Harry Boyt has set his sights on launching a new kitchen and interiors business following a two-day workshop run by X-Forces Enterprise. Our charity has funded the course since 2015, which has an excellent record of helping veterans embark on new business ventures.
After twelve years in the British Army, former officer Harry Boyt is preparing for the transition to Civvie Street. With his sights firmly set of his next business venture, he chatted to our partner, X-Forces, about his experience attending the two-day ABF Start-Up Skills workshop, which is funded by our charity.
The workshop helps those in the military community who wish to learn more about launching a new business – providing opportunities to run through their business plans; gain insights on the ins-and-outs of finances and marketing; and network with other like-minded entrepreneurs.
Harry says: “There’s absolutely no way I’d be where I am now without X-Forces’ and ABF The Soldiers’ Charity’s support through the courses I’ve done with them. It will shape and develop my business decisions to come, especially giving me that confidence to do it. Going from a big military team to starting a business on your own can be quite lonely so to have that support is brilliant.”
Harry, who set up and ran a successful bespoke interiors business for three years before joining the Army, plans to launch his new business later this year. He has vowed to keep learning and developing his skills until that time – and afterwards too.
Harry says: “If you’re leaving the services, and you’re even thinking of going into business you have to do this course, it’s that simple. Both the one-day and two-day courses. There’s nothing to lose and everything to gain.”
