On Saturday 22nd February, London Irish Rugby Football Club secured a 24-20 win against Gloucester Rugby Union Team in the Armed Forces rugby match at the Madejski Stadium in Reading. This year, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity was chosen as the official charity of the game.
London Irish has achieved three Gallagher Premiership wins in a row, with a bonus-point victory in the latest game. Ollie Hassell-Collins scored four tries against Gloucester, battling stormy wind conditions to reach the line each time.
In the crowd were two Chelsea Pensioners, Fred Boomer-Hawkins and Peter Goad, who were there to show their support alongside nine soldiers from Hermitage Station. The 22-strong Army Medical Services Band provided fantastic musical entertainment for the crowd.
Thank you to London Irish and Gloucester for putting on a brilliant display of Premiership rugby in support of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and the Army family.
