The ride will be led by a Ride Leader wearing a high visibility vest and will be followed by a Tail End Charlie, who will also be wearing a high visibility vest. Each road junction where a change of direction is required will be signposted with fluorescent yellow signs and ride marshals will be stationed at some of the road junctions.
We want to ensure that you enjoy the ride and arrive back safely, so please follow the advice given below:
- Ensure you and your bike are road legal for you to ride on the day.
- Ensure your bike is well maintained.
- Ensure you have sufficient fuel to complete the group ride.
- Normal traffic rules and conditions apply. The roads are open to other traffic, so follow all normal riding rules.
- Be prepared for a leisurely ride. Think of the group ride as being like a procession that you are an important part of.
- Maintain a safe distance from other riders and other vehicles at all times.
- Do not panic if you become separated from other riders in the group. Follow the fluorescent yellow signs at the road junctions, and directions provided by the route marshals until you can safely re-join the group. Do not speed or carry out any unsafe actions to try and catch up.
- Do not overtake other riders in the group. Maintain your position.
- Overtake other road users only if it is necessary, and safe to do so.
- On wider sections of road, and where traffic conditions allow, ride in a slightly compressed staggered formation, but under no circumstances get too close to other riders, and never overlap wheels with the rider in front.
- Indicate early. Using your indicators will inform the following riders in the group.
- If you experience a problem, pull safely over to the side of the road. The Tail End Charlie rider will pull in and advise you on what to do.
