ABF The Soldiers’ Charity has always maintained that it is here ‘for the long haul’ and this has not changed. This month, we awarded Combat Stress a grant of £250,000 to enable it to continue delivering its life-changing services.

As a charity, we judge it is more important than ever that we actively support Army veterans who are battling mental ill-health. Society is changing on a dramatic and continuous basis, and we want to make sure our Army family is still getting the help it deserves and needs.

We have always been humbled by the way Combat Stress consistently responds to the evolving needs of veterans living with complex mental health conditions. Our grant will enable the charity to support veterans through a range of services including its 24-hour helpline and video call therapy, which is particularly helpful at this time given the situation with COVID-19.

Robert Marsh, Director of Fundraising at Combat Stress, said: “We are enormously grateful to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity for their generous support to Combat Stress and veterans with complex mental health problems.

“This grant will enable us to deliver our lifesaving services to former servicemen and women across the UK, helping them to tackle the past and take on the future.”

The Soldiers’ Charity will continue to work tirelessly with other organisations to limit the impact COVID-19 may have on the Army family. We may all be working from home, but our absolute emphasis remains ensuring that soldiers, veterans and their families are supported in the best way they can be.
