On Thursday 1 June, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity hosted its very first Yorkshire Big Curry Lunch, inspired by the highly successful annual Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch in London’s Guildhall. The event took place in the iconic 14th century Merchant Adventurers’ Hall on Fossgate, York.
Our charity is thrilled with the success of this first Yorkshire event, which we hope will raise around £10,000 towards our work helping soldiers, veterans, and their families.
Over 180 guests attended the Lunch, including His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Mrs Jo Ropner. Guests enjoyed music from the Band of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and pipers from the Royal Dragoon Guards. Soldiers from 2 Signal Regiment supported the smooth delivery of the event.

“Curry has long been a favourite dish in the British Army and a big part of Yorkshire’s cultural heritage, so we decided to bring this flagship event to our historic city. We are delighted that so many of our friends and supporters across Yorkshire and beyond came along, enjoyed some beer and curry, and helped us raise funds for our soldiers and veterans.”
